The Provence is ideal for canoeing, both for trained canoeist as for families who want to canoe with their children. You can go canoeing on several rivers in Provence: the l'Argens, but also in the Gorge du Verdon and on the coast of southern France.
Canoeing with the family
On the river d'Argens between Carces and Lorgues are several possibilities for canoeing. This is nice for the less trained canoeist or if you want to go out with the children. In July and August the water of the river L'Argens is fairly low, making the river suitable to canoe quietly. You can choose between two different canoe trips. A long and a short tour, where you will be picked up by bus at the end. Below a photo impression of the canoe in the South of France.

Also in the Gorges du Verdon (45 min drive from Lorgues) there are several canoe opportunities on calm water and on the wilder parts of the river Verdon. With children it is recommended to canoe where the Gorge du Verdon opens in Lac st Croix (see photos below). Here, the flow is not strong and you can swim in the lake or river. The water has a fantastic riviera blue color, only that is worth watching.
Coming from Lorgues / Tour Tour the best is to follow the direction to Moustiesr st Marie, this way you will arrive at where the Gorge du Verdon opens in Lac st Croix. Moustiers st Marie is also a really nice town to visit. (See photo at right.)

Extremely canoeing and rafting
For those who seek more action is the Gorge du Verdon very pleasant. You can canoe on wild water rafting, abseiling, bungee jumping etc. These activities generally take place on the east side of the Gorge, near the village of Castellane.

Weather in South of France is ideal for canoeing, only the months of July and August can be very hot, so do not forget to take bottles of water with you.
